During my last and final semester in college, I contracted Encephalitis - a serious brain infection which, among other things, alters your communication and decision making skills.
To sum it up, I was a 22-year-old with the common sense of a 6-year-old.
It took the support from family and friends, as well as my own strength and determination, to overcome the hard times caused by this horrible illness.
I have been lucky enough to recover and move on with my life, marrying my amazing wife, Sarah, and having two wonderful children, son Ashby and daughter Julia.
I wake up every morning and thank God for the strength to live on and survive Encephalitis, while for many, it's often too late.
Let's work together to spread the word on Encephalitis and wake up the entire world on this challenge.
